Google updates Google Now with camera search among other features

Google is continuously upgrading its services at break neck speeds. In fact, Google is so fast that in case of Android the OEMs cannot keep up. It’s doing the same with its Google Now service that was introduced at Google I/O with the launch of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Within six months it has leap frogged Apple’s Siri in terms of usability and now Google has added an QR code airport check-in functionality that is very similar to Apple’s Passbook feature as well as a nifty camera search functionality.
Apart from these core additions, the voice search is further tweaked and it is able to tap into more apps like music recognition, product search and Google+. As of now the QR code feature is a US only feature that right now only works with United Airlines so it is rendered useless in India.
It will be interesting see Google update its search app for iOS because even on iOS Google steamrolls Siri in terms of pure usability and if it is able to bring more of this new functionality to iOS, then Apple will be threatened.
